• The name of the local Christian group is Decreto JC 717 Association, led by Ms. Marla Gonzalez, Mr. Roberto Meza, and Mr. Wilver Yanes.  It was organized in January of 2004 and has already grown to a network of 75 Christian lawyers.

Major Activities of Christian Lawyers:

Decreto JC 717 lawyers are involved in the following activities:

• Educating and promoting justice, religious freedom, human rights, and reconciliation
• Discussing justice issues on local radio, television, and at churches
• Organizing annual meetings
• Sending out a weekly prayer calendar
• Evangelism

Convocation Goals:

• The Advocates International Global Convocation will provide El Salvadorian lawyers with time for fellowship with other members of the international Christian law network.

• God’s help in raising up a new generation of young Christian lawyers in El Salvador
• God’s guidance in the hearts of law students
• God’s help in softening the intra-religious tensions based on power struggles and personal differences
