Legal Profession:

• Estimated number of lawyers in Cuba is difficult to estimate:  all lawyers work with the government because private exercise of law is not permitted unless you are part of a “collective lawyers office” run by the government’s Justice Department.
• Estimated number of believers involved in the legal profession is 200-300.
• The name of the local Christian group name is Confraternidad Cristiana de Juristas de Cuba.  Approximately 30 lawyers participate, with Rodolfo R. Juarez Vasquez providing leadership for the group. 

Major Activities of Christian Lawyers:

• Providing general advice and counseling on legal matters.
• Assisting churches with matters in areas such as constitutions and by-laws and recovery of property.
• Conflict resolution between denominations.

Convocation Goals:

• The delegates from Cuba feel that the Convocation will provide an invaluable opportunity to exchange opinions and know what other groups are doing.
