Legal Profession:

• Estimated number of lawyers in Chile is 20,000
• Estimated number of believers involved in the legal profession is 3,000-4,000
• The name of the local Christian group is Christian Legal Society of Chile (Sociedad Jurídica Cristiana de Chile)(SJC), which was organized in November 2002.  The Society has groups in four cities of the country.  The principal national leader is Raul Romero, who also leads the group in Concepcion.  In addition, Jose Luis Cortez leads the group in Antofagasta, Luisa Hernandez leads the group in Lautaro, and Daniel Valenzuela leads the group in Chillan.

Major Activities of Christian Lawyers:

SJC lawyers are involved in the following activities:

• Leading meetings for prayer and Bible study every Friday
• Organizing seminars and talks about legal and ethical issues
• Promoting Christian conciliation as an alternative method to solve conflicts

Convocation Goals:

• The Global Convocation will provide an opportunity for Christian lawyers from Chile to meet and share with other Christian colleagues from all around the world, to receive useful training about ways to minister in our own country, and will deepen their communion with the global movement of Christian lawyers.

Prayer Items:

• That SJC chapters can soon be established throughout the whole country, especially in Santiago, the capital city.
• To influence colleagues with a true commitment to serve the Lord through this ministry.
• To have the blessing of being able to send several Chilean participants to the Global Convocation
