- The name of the local Christian group is Christian Lawyers Institute of Brazil (CLIB), headed by Mr. David Teixeira de Azevedo and Gilberto Ribeiro dos Santos. Although the Institute wasorganized in June of 2004, it already has a network of 30 active lawyers and 4 judges as board advisors.
Major Activities of Christian Lawyers:
Lawyers from CLIB are involved in the following activities:
- Assisting legislators with matters influencing the Brazilian society (e.g., religious freedom)
- Encouraging research on topics that may benefit the legal community
- Promoting networking events for associate members
- Creating a body for discussing problems that may arise in relation to conflicts between Christian principles and the law
- Cooperating with local and international entities with the objective of promoting ethical principles in the exercise of the legal profession
- Organizing business breakfasts and luncheons
Convocation Goals:
- CLIB believes that the Global Convocation is important for the Institute and country, because through sharing experiences, encouragement, and prayers, the Brazilian group can become stronger and more efficient in its work.
Prayer Items:
- God’s help in the development, growth, and use of CLIB as an instrument for changing the country
- More Christian lawyers, and other professionals in the legal vocation, standing strong for God’s word and work
- God’s guidance in raising serious politicians, legislators, and judges who can fight corruption, bring morality, and better the economic and social scenes in Brazil
