ªUganda In Actionª
Many Ugandans don’t believe it possible to be a lawyer and a Christian. UCLF has found that even some churches are resistant to the concept, especially in poorer communities. As a result the group started a program of community legal education. It involves spending Saturday afternoons going to churches and giving short talks about peoples’ rights in areas such as making wills, land use and ownership, and encountering arrest. The church invites the wider community to share in this, and the lawyers are able to intersperse their talks with testimonies. The response has been great and the gospel is being spread whilst UCLF members put to use their skills. This is just one of the initiatives UCLF has started.
