Southern Africa Sub-Region

The economic powerhouse of Africa south of the Sahara Desert is undoubtedly South Africa. Through its well-developed infrastructure and deepwater ports, South Africa handles much of the trade for the whole southern African region. This probable explains why the growth and development of the Christian Lawyers Association (CLA) of South Africa has been rapid. CLA’s involvement and partnership with AI has greatly impacted on South Africa’s neighbours, Botswana, Swaziland, Lesotho, Namibia, Angola, situated north of Namibia, Mozambique on the east coast, and the countries of south-central Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi .

In the last four years we have seen the establishment of CLS chapters in Zimbabwe and Botswana while establishing and maintaining contacts in the other countries.

Presently the region plans to hold its first Southern Africa Convocation in Pretoria, South Africa. The theme of the convocation scheduled to hold from the 12 – 15 August 2004 is Building a Legacy of Justice for Future Generations
