Legal Profession:

  • At the time of publication, no accurate information regarding the estimated number of lawyers or the percentage of believers involved in the legal profession in Cote D’Ivoire was available.  However, it has been noted that there is a larger number of magistrates than advocates, and those involved with the attempt to organize a Christian lawyers group are determining how this will affect the nature of the group.
  • The name of the local group is ADVOCATES COTE D'IVOIRE, led by Josué TCHIMOU.  It involves advocates, magistrates, and leaders of childhood and youth protection centers and organization advocating for human rights.

Major Activities of Christian Lawyers:

  • Praying according to the Advocates International network prayer calendar items and for different African countries' issues.
  • Meeting for Bible studies.
  • Organizing training for the legal professional committed to regulating the law and living according to professional ethics based on the Bible.
  • Organizing training about professional ethics based on the Bible for students in Law and Criminology, police, gendarmeries and customs service, and related fields in order to decrease corruption.
  • Organizing training to empower the body of Christ (the church) about law questions, education, and professional ethics.
  • Providing assistance for juveniles in open and closed reeducation centers.
  •  Visiting prisons, police stations, and centers of rehabilitation (with adults and teenagers in custody).
  • Protecting children, youth, and women in difficult situations (including those who live on the street, are victims of war or bad treatment, etc.).
  • Advocating human rights.
  • Holding programs to train pastors and Christian leaders to face various issues and questions brought up by STI/HIV-AIDS.
  • Sponsoring programs to prevent and fight against STI/HIV-AIDS and other serious transmittable diseases.
  • Further on, as our country is falling deeper and deeper into corruption, we would like to empower our health and government agents with training on professional ethics based on the Bible because they are the most involved in corruption.

Convocation Goals:

  • Create the best possible organization of Christian lawyers and leaders of childhood and youth protection centers and organizations advocating for human rights that we may together lead efficient programs to impact social life in Cote d'Ivoire at all levels: legal, health, administration, etc.
