Dear Friend,

Freedom is a word that President George W. Bush used 36 times in his Second Inaugural Address. He also mentioned freedom and liberty 46 times in his State of the Union speech. Men and women are giving their lives in the Middle East and around the globe for freedom. Freedom is a precious commodity that comes at a very high price.

Dear Friend,

How would you define success?

At an Advocates' Board meeting in 1994, a Board member expressed concern that we were not growing fast enough or having the impact he felt we should have. We had been in existence for only two years and had begun activities in five countries. In his opinion, with over 200 nations in the world, our progress was not good enough.

and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria,
and to the ends of the earth. After he said this, he was taken up before
their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight." Acts 1:8,9

Thanksgiving 2004

Dear Friends,

What a Thanksgiving season!

I cannot recall a Thanksgiving when God's amazing grace has been more evident than this year. God's grace on our family includes the birth of our first grandchild, Benjamin, on September 24. I had no idea what joy it is to be a granddad! WOW!

Dear Friend,

A few weeks ago we sent you our Global Convocation brochure, Doing the Impossible with Jesus: Overcoming Evil with Good Throughout the World. Nothing that I have ever been involved in compares to the potential impact that this Convocation will have for believers around the globe. There are over 300 delegates from 85 nations who plan to attend (see enclosed). For a staff of only three full-time people at the home office, our "mission impossible" is made possible as Christ gives us strength.

Dear Friend,

RE: The Best Staff Money Can't Buy

Today was the first day that I ventured to open emails since my June 28th lung-cancer surgery and post-operation complications, including a collapsed lung and staph infection. Although our staff checked the messages daily during my absence to catch the "must do" items, there were still 500 messages to review.

Dear Friend,

When was the last time you witnessed a miracle? Perhaps it's been a while. Perhaps your perspective is too narrow. Perhaps you focus only on the dramatic "quick fix" type of miracles but fail to see that miracles can also unfold over time - miracles in slow motion. A miracle is an event best understood as an act of divine providence. Our focus this month is on miracles in slow motion from conception and birth to relationships and religious freedom. Each took time but God's engagement is clear:
