AI Board Member Kenneth Starr Appointed as Baylor University's New President
Professor Starr's decision to move was prompted by a desire to move back to his home state. "I adore Pepperdine and continue to love being in service at Pepperdine, but Texas is my home state." In a statement posted on Baylor's website, Board of Regents member Joseph B. Armes said Starr was "a fifth-generation Texan who, throughout his distinguished career in law, the academy and public service, has been an articulate advocate for Christian ideals in the public square." In announcing Professor Starr's June 1 departure for Baylor, Pepperdine President Andrew K. Benton said the university was launching a nationwide search for a replacement at the law school. "Ken has had a tremendous impact on our students, the law school, and the Pepperdine community at large," Benton said. "His leadership, his love of scholarship and his devotion to our students helped raise the national stature of our school, and we will benefit from the good he accomplished here for many years to come." Pray for Justice with Compassion for the Persecuted Christians of Pakistan
AI , Jubilee Campaign and CLAAS (our advocates in Pakistan) call for prayer and a full Investigation of the
murder of 12-year-old Christian domestic worker, Shazia Shaheen

Pray for justice in the recent case of Shazia Shaheen, a 12-year-old Christian girl who was tortured to death in late January while working as a maid-servant for the former president of the Lahore High Court Bar Association, Chaudhry Mohammad Naeem, who was arrested 3 days after the murder, but has since been released without charges being filed due to an incomplete police investigation and physical threats that have stopped prominent Christian or Muslim lawyers from taking the case and CLAAS lawyers from even being able to enter the court. Please pray for Shazia's justice. In Pakistan, this Christian servant girl is discriminatorily looked at as worth nothing more than the dirt she walked on, but we know how precious children are in the eyes of the Lord.
Our CLAAS team has also requested prayer for the following cases:
- 18th Feb: The blasphemy case of Ruqqiya Bibi and her husband Munir Masih
- 20th Feb: Emanuel Bhatti case. Emmanuel was released from the court by the home secretary. He is not in prision but now the case is under trial.
Pray for Joseph Francis and his CLAAS lawyer team for their courage, wisdom and safety while abiding with severe threats as they fight for the needy in Pakistan.
Isaiah 5:7, 20-24 (NKJV)
7 ....[The LORD] looked for justice, but behold, oppression; For righteousness, but behold, a cry for help....
20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!
23 Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away justice from the righteous man!
24 Therefore, ... their root will be as rottenness, And their blossom will ascend like dust; Because they have rejected the law of the Lord ....
Adv ocates Calls for Prayer Around the World
Advocates Founder and President, Sam Ericsson, is asking advocates all over the world to share three prayer requests: (1) the names of one judge or justice; one lawyer or advocate;
and one law student that needs our prayers in 2010; 2) the greatest need facing believers in their country in 2010, perhaps a rule of law or religious freedom challenge; and 3) a personal need in your life, your family or your job. E-mail Sam and let him know how we can pray for you.
Here's your Advocates Africa February Prayer Calendar. The entire Advocates Africa team thanks you for your prayers. For inclusion in the next Advoactes Africa Prayer Calender. Please send any items of prayer or praise to Alison Diarra at alisondiarra@jemmali.org Thank you.

AI Asks U.S. Supreme Court to Uphold Student's Rights of Freedom of Expression, Association and Religious Free Exercise.
Supreme Court poised to decide whether a state non-discrimination policy constitutes a discriminatory and unconstitutional deprivation of law students rights of free expression, religion and association
AI wrote its "friend of the Court" brief to inform the Court that this case presents an issue of common concern to people all over the world who, like the Christian law students in this case, face growing state denials or impermissible conditions perniciously designed to muzzle the exercise of their freedoms of speech, association and religion in cases analogous to the instant case where private religious fellowships who otherwise pose no threat to public health or safety are discriminatorily denied registration or recognition because of their disfavored religious beliefs, ideals or commitments. For more details see AI's Press Release.

Thank You for Your Financial Support

AI is not a recipient of government funding and is solely dependent upon the financial contributions of those who believe in its mission, thereby enabling it to serve "clients" ranging from heads of state seeking to implement constitutional reforms to persecuted and imprisoned believers sentenced to death for their faith.
